Role Overview
Plan, coordinate and direct the effective implementation of training programmes at the Provincial Vocational Training Centre in line with the Vocational Training and Skills Development Policy and Strategy as well as national development imperatives; Coordinate the formulation of evaluation systems for effective training at the Provincial Centre; Apply research-based best practice interventions, technologies and strategies to govern training and assessment for Training for Enterprise (TFE) curriculum at the Provincial Centre; Develop and manage evaluation systems for effective training at the Provincial Centre; Monitor and evaluate a wide range of training and support packages which underpin the principles of vocational qualifications, national occupational standards and good evidence based practice; Participate in the planning and development of a broad range of curriculum areas, including orientation towards self employment generation and preparation for life and work; Oversee the recruitment and selection of prospective trainees at the Provincial Centre; Monitor and review the progress of trainees through surveys, questionnaires and discussions with Skills Trainers; Coordinate the mobilization of resources for the development and management of specialized training hubs and production units at the Provincial Centre; Supervise and monitor Public Sector Investment Programmes (PSIP) projects at the Provincial Centre; Put in place measures to prepare trainees towards self-employment generation upon completion of their training; Liaise with key stakeholders both externally and internally to identify potential opportunities and provide advice, guidance and support on delivery of duties at the Provincial Centre; Maintain proper records of trainees; Prepare and submit returns and periodic review reports to the Deputy Director at stipulated times; Supervise, coach and counsel subordinates.
Requirements & Qualifications
A degree in Vocational/Technical Education, Education Management, Training Management or equivalent
Certification in a Skills trade is an advantage
A relevant Masters degree is an advantage
A minimum of four (4) years experience as a Skills Trainer or equivalent grade
Excellent organizing skills
A team player
Ability to work under pressure
Thorough knowledge of modern training tools and techniques
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to employ information communication technologies in the management of training
