Family Aid Caring Trust (FACT) is a Christian national development NGO based in Zimbabwe. FACT implements sustainable development initiatives to improve people’s livelihood, Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), HIV Prevention, HIV and AIDS care and support as well as health activities. FACT is Sub-Recipient to the Global Fund New Funding Model (NFM3) implementing Resilient Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH): Community
Systems Strengthening Module. Implementation is through Sub Sub recipients in 20 Global fund districts. FACT Zimbabwe is also implementing directly in Gokwe North, Kariba, Kwekwe, Nyanga, Bikita and Chimanimani. The organization is seeking staff as detailed below;

Position: Finance Assistant
Reporting to: Finance Officer
Location: Mutare

Purpose of the position

Working under the supervision of the Finance Officer, the Finance Assistant primary role include assisting in project finance management and
maintaining accurate financial records.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in proper control of the supporting documents for payments and financial reports.
  • Assist in reviewing all types of payments, from purchase to payment requests, verifying that they are duly authorized, and all the supporting documents are attached therewith.
  • Prepare necessary receipt and journal vouchers.
  • Prepare payment vouchers and documentation for authorisation.
  • Responsible for filing of supporting documents/invoices linked to expenditure.
  • Assist in accurately and timely entering accounting data into the accounting system.
  • Develop and maintain an updated and easily accessible hard copy and Electronic Finance Office Filing System
  • Assist with payment processing, VAT returns, end of year preparation and Audit Preparation.
  • Carries out reconciliations (bank, general ledger and cash advance).
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building to staff, including interpretation of policies, setting up of systems, trouble shooting and resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Work together with the finance officer in planning and carrying out SSR finance verifications and capacity building on grant compliance.

Experience and qualification

  • Degree in accounting or finance.
  • At least 1-year practical experience in Accounts/ Finance department in NGO sector.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Excellent time management skills.
