JOB PURPOSE/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

It is the responsibility of the Operations Manager to generate and maintain maximum business volumes and related revenues, consistent with agreed short and long- term objectives of the Organization. This will be realized by:

  • Manage the overall daily operations of the organization whether remotely or onsite. Remote management (HQ) of the operations will be done by undertaking weekly staff and management meetings on Team and otherwise.
  • Manage the recruitment and management of all branch personnel.
  • Manage the approval of all loans exceeding limits given to managers as part of the Loans Committee (LC).
  • Design and Implement Capacity Building Plans and materials for the training and development of staff members
  • Effective delinquency & risk management by supervising collections and loan appraisal process undertaken by the branch and satellite staff. In the weekly meetings update will be given to the Ops. Mgr. on action taken on all loans in arrears and directives will be given to staff regarding next steps and actions on same.
  • Support market and product research and analysis: This will be done by periodic updates of the competitor’s analysis tool on all competitors and their offerings to determine competitiveness, analyze trends and performance of current products to evaluate portfolio risks and profitability. This will be done in collaboration with the Managing Director. Additionally review local market conditions to identify avenues for growth and potential for expansion
  • Develop Business Development Strategies to guide the operations of the organization to achieve sustainability and goals; this includes ensuring that branch staff meets established performance targets.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies and create alliances to enhance business development together with the Marketing Officer.
  • Development of policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Banking and Finance degree as a minimum requirement

10 years at mid level management in the banking sector

Be able to;

Develop new business opportunities and lead the growth process

Effective management of the loan portfolio maintaining an acceptable/minimum level of risk (PAR 30 at 5%)

Develop and implement measures to ensure customer service is consistent with standards
