Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Accountant which has fallen vacant in our organization based in Norton.
Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the successful candidate among other duties will be responsible for:-
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Preparing of draft annual financial statements
2. Preparation of monthly management accounts
3. Producing cost data and assist profit centers with costing activities
4 Ensuring that bank, creditors and debtors reconciliations are prepared monthly
5. Working closely with the Human Resources section in the preparation and verification of Payroll statistics and ensure that adequate funds are available in the salaries account to meet all payroll expenditure.
6. Ensuring that all statutory obligations such as PAYE, VAT, Pensions and Medical aid are paid promptly
7. Partaking in the design and regular review of internal control mechanisms.
8. Authorizing Purchase Orders in the absence of the Finance & Administration Manager
9. Preparation of the Institute’s Revenue expenditure and Capital expenditure budgets
10. Supervising the Institute’s entire accounting function from subsidiary books, Ledger up-to Trial Balance.
11. Maintaining the Institute’s Asset Register
12. Supervising stock – take for the Institute’s inventories
13. Attending to Internal and External Audit queries
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Accounting Degree or equivalent.
- Master’s degree an added advantage
- A professional qualification such as CIS, CA, CIMA or ACCA (a must)
- Knowledge of IPSAS accounting (a must)
- Sound knowledge of computerized and pastel accounting system
- At least 5 years’ experience in the Finance or Accounting field.
- Good interpersonal skills
