Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the above post, which has arisen in our Finance Department at M.E. Charhons (Harare) – a division of Cairns Foods Limited.
As the Finance Manager, you will analyze everyday financial activities and subsequently provide advice and guidance to upper management on future financial plans. The goal is to enable the company’s leaders to make sound business decisions and meet the company’s objectives.
The Job
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the successful applicant will among other key duties be responsible for:
- Providing overall strategic financial guidance to the company, ensuring that business decisions are grounded in sound financial criteria and also providing insight and analysis to support the Chief Operations Officer and other LT’s
- Presenting timely weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly financial and management accounts to the Chief Operations Officer and the LT’s including KPI’s and variance analysis.
- Ensuring that adequate high standard financial controls are in place and are being utilised in the finance department.
- Managing the working capital cycle and the treasury function ensuring a good balance between risk and company liquidity.
- Liaising with the external auditors and managing the audit process from start to finish
- Liaising with tax authorities on all tax issues and ensuring that a valid tax clearance certificate is in place at all times
- Ensuring that the company’s assets are protected and adequately insured in liaison with the company’s insurance brokers.
- Consolidating the budget and also updating the profit forecast for the year every month and the 5-year forecasting every year.
- Working with the Chief Operations Officer to review potential disposals and acquisitions.
- Managing all issues to do with costing and pricing.
- Consolidating the board pack and attending the board meetings by invitation together with the Chief Operations Officer.
- Preparing performance objectives, monitoring and evaluating in line with the company’s PMS
- To ensure that staff is developed and trained accordingly.
- Demonstrating the ability to manage performance by rewarding and disciplining where applicable.
THE PERSON
The ideal applicant should possess the following minimum qualifications and attributes:
- Degree in Accounting
- Professional accounting qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA, CA.
- High proficiency in computers MS Word, Spread Sheets, MS Excel, and MS Power Point.
- Must have sound knowledge of computerized Enterprise Resource Planning systems such as Sage.
- 5 years of relevant experience at the senior management level preferably in FMCG environment.
