Intern – Marcomms and Operations
Role Purpose
The internship is a professional development opportunity aimed at enabling a talented new entrant/recent joiner to the world of work build a strong start to their careers and contribute to our work in a mutually beneficially way. Priority will be given to individuals with albinism or from a marginalised background who meets the essential criteria.
The role will support planning and delivery of British Council Zimbabwe’s work in line with our strategic objectives. The role will serve to provide a highly motivated beginner/recent entrant to the workforce a learning experience that will help them build essential work skills in a dynamic organisational environment and cultivate a strong foundation for their professional life.
Duties and Responsibilities
The accountabilities focus on equipping the intern to grow knowledge, skills and confidence and deliver tangible results performing the following specific functions working with and learning from more experienced colleagues.
1. Support operations and existing projects delivery
Provide administrative support to existing projects, conduct customer surveys, develop stakeholder databases, support problem solving.
2. Marketing and Communications (Marcomms)
Lead on social media and digital, contribute to communication activities and documents, impact stories, awareness raising, assist in drafting reports etc
3. Operations/Corporate services
Assist colleagues Equaity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) activities, on Safeguarding and support Environmental Framework Tool (EFT) monitoring and reporting.

Requirements:
Essential: The ideal candidate should:
- Must be new/recent entrant to the workforce (within the past 2 years) with a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Operations, Business administration, Computer Science or a related field
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of people
- Resourcefulness and attention to detail
- Constructive and results-driven approach to work
- Ability to organise, co-ordinate, handle multiple tasks
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies is an added advantage
Job Specific Skills
- Ability to manage self, work independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Computer and Digital skills- using social media platforms, Word, excel, powerpoint
- HIgh degree of professionalism and integrity,

Remuneration and benefits: Competitive
Contract Type – Locally Engaged
Location – Harare, Zimbabwe
Requirements – All applicants should have a pre-existing legal status to live and work in country of application. The British Council will not facilitate/sponsor visa applications and work permits.

This is a short-term intern position; intern roles are not a prelude to longer term employment with the organisation. If opportunities for further paid employment arise, these will be advertised and interns who apply will be considered against the same criteria as other applicants.
