About the job

As the Business Development Manager in Tsebo Zimbabwe, your primary operational duty is to identify prospective opportunities, developing customer relationships, implementing marketing plan, protecting company’s profitability and fostering the growth of the sales and marketing team. You will identify, develop, build, manage and deliver sales targets via management of relationships with new and existing clients, to drive revenues & profits whilst providing of sound solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify business opportunities & perform market research to determine new business leads & potential projects.
  • Manage strategic alliances & partnerships by securing corporate/ business relationships through effective client management & analyzing joint ventures/partners to identify & ensure best suited options for the business.
  • Propose options to management regarding tender price/options margins to ensure that the management is supplied with market related information when deciding on setting competitive prices.
  • Lead the business development team according to set objectives & initiate market analysis, review process ensuring that the senior management team are kept fully up to date.
  • Pro-actively hunt for new business and establish communications with those businesses that can benefit from solutions provided by Tsebo Zimbabwe.
  • Conduct periodic performance appraisal in line with the company’s performance management program.
  • Liaison with client at all stages of the bidding process; qualification, pre bid meeting, post tender submission and finalization of contract.
  • Forecast long and short-range market potential in national markets by conducting market & feasibility analysis by monitoring the implementation and execution of Business Development and Public Relations activities.
  • Conduct a detailed market research to understand and gather intelligence about competitor companies in the region.
  • Represent Tsebo in business exhibitions and internal business development forums.

Skills and Competencies

  • At least 5 years’ post-qualifying experience in business development.
  • Proven track record of increasing revenue through new business generation, client retention and growth.
  • Proven ability to manage an end-to-end sales process from lead generation, bespoke tender/proposal writing, presentations, contractual negotiation and sales to operations handover.
  • Analytical mind with aptitude in business development.
  • Excellent analytical skills able to build a strategy from various data points.
  • Ability to seek and develop new relationships to achieve strategic business objectives.
  • Ability to contribute to development of strategy and take responsibility for delivering strategic objectives.
  • Experience in developing and overseeing intelligence gathering and opportunity forecasting processes for new business.
  • Demonstrable financial acumen, with an understanding of budgeting processes and financial reporting.
  • Recognise changing market forces that may impact upon own or customers’ business and puts plans into action to make a positive contribution.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of different teams both internally and externally.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to influence decisions.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Experience of working in a growth focused environment.
  • Commercially aware with solid business development experience.
  • Confident, ambitious and energetic with a persuasive manner and the ability to use initiative and influence decisions.

Qualifications

  • O’ Level including Mathematics and English.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales and Marketing / Business Development or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • Professional Sales or Marketing qualification such as MAZ or similar post-graduation qualification will be an advantage.
  • Driver’s license.
