The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre, known by its Spanish acronym, CIMMYT®, is a not -for-profit research and training organization with partners in over 100 countries.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidate for the position of Project Assistant to be based in our Southern Africa Office in Harare, Zimbabwe. This is a nationally recruited position and is open to all Zimbabweans with excellent academic records. This position will support on-going research activities in Zimbabwe and collaborating projects in the Southern Africa region as needed. Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the administration and coordination of SAS program activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Support in coordinating SAS program – wide activities
Prepare necessary documentation and coordinate the administration of projects.
Prepare the expense reports for the SAS IRS
Assist with the processing of subgrant disbursement to partners.
Data capturing of field data for analysis.
Support in ensuring project financial transactions undergo proper institutional approval processes and are satisfactorily executed.
Support in the program procurement and management of project assets, inventory, and other resources, in alignment with CIMMYT’s policies and processes.
Assist with coordinating SAS country partner activities.
Assist project and CIMMYT management in any other matters as and when required.

Required academic qualifications, skills, and attitudes:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or any other relevant degree.
At least two years’ work experience in project administration within an international organization
Must be proficient in computing skills; excel, word, power point, MS-project, web management.
Good written and verbal communication skills is essential.
The ability to prepare regularly used documents and reports without assistance.
Ability to prioritize and organize work efficiently and independently.
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
The selected candidate must be able to demonstrate the following competencies: Interpersonal skills, teamwork, communication, client orientation, and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
