Job Description

The Office of the Auditor-General is a government agency responsible for ensuring that public resources are used efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with the law.

The OAG conducts audits of government departments, agencies, and institutions, and provides independent and objective assurance to Parliament and the public on the management of public resources.

Job Title: Accounting Assistant

Reports to: Accountant

The Office of the Auditor-General is inviting applications from highly competent and qualified persons to fill the position of Accounting Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and recording transactions, preparing reports and budgets, communicating with clients and vendors, checking and filing accounting records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Payment Processing:

Prepare and file payment vouchers and other documents.
Process journals for initiating disallowances, surcharges, advances, and miscellaneous.
Receipting and invoicing.
Park documents in the SAP system.
Prepare bank transfer letters.
Certify correct all suspense accounts and reimbursement vouchers.

Other Duties:

Any other duties as assigned by the superiors.

Qualifications and Experience:

Diploma in Accountancy, Part CGI (Formerly CIS), or equivalent.
Ability to work under pressure.
35 years and below.
Ability to handle confidential information.
Computer literacy.
Knowledge of SAP will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of Public Service Accounting Procedures.
Honest and reliable.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
