Key Responsibilities
Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
Prepares and presents financial statements by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
Produces payroll by initiating computer processing; printing checks, and verifying finished products.
Cash flow management to ensure currencies and cash use is optimized and payments are met
Assists with external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
Ensures tax compliance and avoids legal complications by complying with legal requirements.
Ensures financial controls by developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and SOPs to enhance effective and efficient management processes and practices.
Manages overdraft and loan facilities for staff and the company, including borrowing conditions with the respective Financing Institutions at the time of renewal.
Identifies and presents possible investment opportunities to the Managing Director in line with the agreed strategy.
Secures financial information and ensures financial user access is correct and backups are reliable.
Keeps the organization’s information confidential and preserves its value.
Knowledge, skills, and competencies
Financial management and control
Risk and Compliance
Financial Systems, procedures, and reporting
Proficiency in modern accounting packages and accounting standards
Financial budgeting and control
Firm grasp of the local operating environment
Advanced spreadsheet skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present relatively complex situations
Knowledge of financial systems, processes, procedures, and IT applications is an advantage
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar
Completion of articles of clerkship with a reputable Accounting institution is an added advantage
CA or equivalent is also an added advantage
6 to 8 years of Financial Management, Reporting, Budgeting, and Taxation
A member of ICAZ or ACCA or CPA or CIS.
