Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions which have arisen at the Women’s University in Africa.
Reporting
The Transport and Logistics Officer will report to the Deputy Director, Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Processing transport requests and allocating pool vehicles to users for optimal use;
- Overseeing the operations, maintenance and repairs of University fleet and ancillary equipment;
- Ensuring that University vehicles are roadworthy, branded, serviced and licensed timeously and stored safely;
- Developing policy procedures and safety protocols in order to improve the provision of transport services to the University;
- Drafting and presenting weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the status of the University’s fleet;
- Managing resources in an economic, efficient and cost-effective manner, and in line with set standards, policies and procedures;
- Overseeing and scheduling vehicle inspection, maintenance, and servicing to minimise down time;
- Overseeing the maintenance of vehicle information and inspection records;
- Superintending over the routing and timetabling of the University fleet;
- Leading in the investigations into vehicle accidents, incidences, damages, misuse and abuse.
- Processing of transport requests from University satellite campuses;
- Managing Board of Surveys and disposal of vehicles;
- Providing strategic inputs and recommendations into the purchase of new vehicles or related equipment for the University;
- Handling of fleet related grievances, queries and complaints from University clients;
- Supervising junior staff in the Transport and Logistics Section; and
- Performing any other duties as delegated by the Deputy Director, Operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Higher National Diploma in Transport Management or equivalent from a reputable examination board;
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Transport Management/Administration from a recognised university is an added advantage;
- Must hold a clean class 4 driver’s license;
- Defensive Driver’s License is a must;
- Membership of a Professional board is an added advantage;
- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant professional experience as Transport and Logistics Officer or equivalent; and
- Experience in the transportation industry is an added advantage.
