We seek to hire Quantity surveyors, also known as cost consultants, who will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial success of construction projects. They will be responsible for estimating, managing, and controlling costs throughout the project lifecycle, from initial planning to final completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimating and Costing:
- Analyze architectural drawings and specifications to estimate quantities of materials and labor required.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for different project elements and generate overall project budgets.
- Stay updated on market prices for materials and labor to ensure accurate estimates.
- Procurement and Tendering:
- Prepare tender documents and bills of quantities for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Evaluate tenders and negotiate contracts with winning bidders.
- Manage procurement processes to ensure timely delivery of materials and services within budget.
- Cost Control and Management:
- Monitor project progress and track actual costs against budgeted amounts.
- Identify and analyze cost variances, recommend corrective actions, and implement cost-saving measures.
- Prepare regular cost reports for stakeholders and provide financial updates.
- Contract Management:
- Review and interpret contracts from a cost perspective.
- Manage variations to the contract scope and negotiate claims with contractors.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Project Collaboration:
- Work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing clear and concise information.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field (e.g., Construction Management, Civil Engineering).
- Professional membership in a recognized Quantity Surveying body
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in cost estimating software and construction project management tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
