Laboratory Assistant

Qualifications And Experience

• Certificate in Agriculture
• At least 5 “O” levels including Maths, English, and Science
• At least one year of relevant work experience at a tertiary institution or research institution or at a farm
• Applicants to prove in an interview that they possess Agronomic practical skills for both open-field and greenhouse experiments.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assisting in carrying out laboratory and field experiments
• Assist in general maintenance of laboratories in the department, housekeeping, and cleaning of apparatus
• Assist in the preparation, running of practicals and ensuring safe laboratory practices
• Assist in the safe disposal of laboratory wastes
• Assist in monitoring and data collection of field trials on campus and off campus
• Assist in any other business assigned by the department
• Assist in arranging logistics in the requisition and availing of protective clothing and stationery to the department
