ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
To proficiently operate at least one of the following technologies in SMD; a Protos Cigarette Maker or a GD Cigarette Packer or a KDF Filter Maker and be able to operate at least one other technology as a reliever (e.g., The maker operator should be able to relive the packing operator during meal breaks). He/she will also leadmajorpreventivemaintenance& overhaul,installations & commissioning on at least one of the technologies installed in SMD; a Protos Cigarette Maker or a GD Cigarette Packer or a KDF Filter Maker.
WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
- Lead, support and executeTechnical Operators in attending to any machine breakdowns promptly.
- Carrying out planned maintenance inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Proficiently operate a Protos Cigarette Maker or a GD Cigarette Packer or a KDF Filter Maker efficiently to achieve agreed production targets while giving the updates on the machine performance and tasks.
- Lead and support the operators to ensure proper machine settings across the factory to ensure good quality.
- Carry out modifications to improve on performance following a decision to do so by the manager.
- Ensure key sub-assembly spares are available when required and in good condition.
- Lead Technical Operators in carrying out machine conversions when necessary.
- Lead the team of Technical Operators in projects such as installations and commissioning.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE
- At least 5 years’ experience working in a factory setting in a similar position in a manufacturing environment
- Technical Operator with demonstrated Preventive Maintenance skills and ability and able to competently carry-out machine overhauls on at least a Protos or GD or KDF in SMD including service and utility equipment.
- Consistently demonstrate positive leadership attributes and leads by example to be a good role model for your managers, peers, and Technical Operators.
- Own at least one Daily Management System
- Provide task teams with all information and guidance they need to execute assigned projects.
- Participate in Pillar activities
- Proactively create opportunities for development and growth for all trainees and technical operators through coaching and clear/constructive/timely feedback
- Deals with performance issues in a timely and transparent manner.
- Actively participate and lead Integrated Work Systems activities and initiatives through others to contribute to the team success
- Consistently demand discipline of self and others to raise standards and deliver stretch results.
- Step in to support other technical operators and Trainees to ensure timely and effective resolution of operational challenges.
- Lead others through Gap analysis and troubleshooting by using problem solving and improvement tools
- The Job Holder must have at least a National Diploma in Engineering
