UNICEF Zimbabwe is seeking to engage a qualified and committed Content generation and design Individual consultant who will – under the supervision of the Chief of Communication – update the country website and create communication tools for the end of the year campaigns.

BACKGROUND:

The communication section needs to update its website and get support for the upcoming communication campaign end 2023.

ASSIGNMENTS:

Under the supervision of the Chief Communication, the individual consultant will support with the following key areas and tasks:

Update the country website

Create communication tools for the end of the Q4 communication campaigns

4 September 2023 – 15 October 2023   

Revise country office website, identify outdated information and update with support of communication and programme colleagues (30 Sept)
Update the 2-pager programme folder on the country website based on the guidance of the CO partnership specialist; ensure graphic design of new/updated 2 programme pagers, upload on the country website and promote through social media (15 Oct)
The country office website is fully updated
All programme 2-pagers are updated and uploaded on website

16 October 2023 – 14 January 2024  

  • Develop graphic design products to support the communication campaign on the voice of children (30 Oct)
  • Develop graphic design material for the U-Report programme (30 Nov)
  • Cover with strong photo-video material World Children’s Day events (30 Nov)
  • Cover with strong photo-video material the young people’s voice during preparatory activities meetings for COP28 (Dec 2023) and ICASA (Dec 2023) (31 Dec)
  • Graphic design of 6 annual 2023 donor visibility reports
    10 communication tools designed for the end of the year campaign, including look-and-feel, logo for the campaign and applications for the various digital platforms
  • 5 communication products designed in support of U-Report, including a look-and-feel for a dedicated U-Report page on the country website and for the digital platforms to promote U-Report
  • 5 social media videos developed on World Children’s Day
  • 2 photo packages (each with 20 High-Definition pictures) on World Children’s Day
  • 5 communication products developed related to COP28 preparations
  • 5 communication products developed related to ICASA
  • Graphic design for 6 donor visibility report finalized

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, or any other related discipline.
  • A minimum of two-years experience in content generation and photo/video.
  • Strong visual and content development skills.
  • Strong proven working experience on graphic design in text and editing of video.
  • Knowledge and experience in Drupal content management software
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official local language is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
