Communication and Marketing Officer

The University seeks to recruit applicants with requisite skills and experience for the above post in the Communication and Marketing Department in the Vice Chancellor’s Office:

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Together with the Director, creating, coordinating, and executing a cross platform communications and marketing strategy.
  • Producing communications and marketing materials in line with NUST Communications Policy, Strategic Plan and institutional Brand Guidelines.
  • Researching and developing innovative, engaging and informative content to maximise brand visibility.
  • Producing a consistent high standard of accurate and engaging content, including media releases, news stories, online newsletter, public statements, advertisements and other key messages.
  • Organising and coordinating internal and external University functions, events, exhibitions and career guidance outreach activities.
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Government officials, business executives, partners, media, members of the public.
  • Developing and facilitate University community engagement.
  • Representing the University at various community and/or business meetings, to market University products and services.
  • Planning, budgeting and fundraising for the strategic direction of the Department.

  • Ability to plan, organise, and facilitate high quality range of special events and activities off and online.
  • Ability to produce detailed publications and reports.
  • Maintain a good knowledge of the higher education sector and, in particular, the University.

Qualifications

  • A Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Media, Communication, Public Relations or any related discipline.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in marketing, communications, public relations and media.
  • Experience in institutional social media management and digital marketing.
  • Candidates must be highly computer literate and have excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
