Chief Buyer

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Chief Buyer which has arisen at Choppies Zimbabwe. The position will be based in Harare.

Duties and Responsibilities

THE KEY DELIVERABLES FOR THIS POSITION SHALL, INTER ALIA, INCLUDE:

• Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
• Establish and maintain contact with suppliers and working with key account managers.
• Interview suppliers and negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms and transportation arrangements.
• Negotiating trading terms and advertising spend
• New listing with extensive knowledge of SLA agreements and compliances.
• Yearly as well as monthly promotional planning with suppliers and arrange things to facilitate the same such as Preparation of flyers etc.
• Oversee distribution of merchandise to outlets and maintain adequate stock levels
• Pricing and Right Pricing Strategies.
• Fix Product range and merchandising standards in shops
• Reporting – Stock, Turnover, profit, store compliances, promotions…

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of 7 years experience in the position of Chief Buyer
• Experience in a Retail/FMCG environment will be an advantage
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, An MBA will be an added advantage.
• Excellent Computer Skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint)
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
