We are looking to employ an enthusiastic, caring and compassionate individual to join our team in our very exciting and exceptional, purpose built infection control unit where we provide safe and innovative care to patients in our 20 isolation cubicles

Main duties of the job

You should have good communication and observation skills and be adaptable and engaged in teamwork to provide excellent care to a wide variety of patients with various illnesses. You should be highly motivated, well organised and be able to adapt to different clinical situations.

You will participate in the induction of new Health Care Assistants (Nursing) and being a role model and guide to teach HCAs and support them to recognise and develop their skills and knowledge via mentoring.

Previous caring experience is essential

Please note you will have to attend a 3 week induction and training programme unless you can demonstrate you have previous healthcare experience at interview

Job description

Job responsibilities

To assist in the provision of high quality care to patients and their families under the direction and supervision of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Demonstrate a range of nursing skills to meet the needs of patients whilst promoting dignity, privacy and respect.

To comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers. To provide a range of healthcare and non-nursing duties, ensuring an efficient and effective service to the ward/department at all times

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent work experience.
  • NVQ Level 3 or demonstrable level of work experience at a higher level in the Emergency Department.
  • Completed Care Certificate Course.

Desirable

  • Completed Co-Mentor (HCAs) or equivalent.
  • Basic Wound Care Skills.
  • Team Leader Module or willingness to undertake.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in patient contact position within the ward environment
