Job summary
PACU supports the JCUH (James Cook University Hospital) Theatre department and surgical services to deliver an enhanced immediate recovery pathway for the initial 24 to 48 hours post operatively prior to returning to the general ward. PACU works closely alongside the surgical and anaesthetic Multi-Disciplinary Team caring for post-operative patients from many specialities including Orthopaedics, neurosurgery, Urology, General Surgery, Gynaecology, ENT, Maxillo Facial, Plastic Surgery, vascular surgery and cancer services. This opens up a diverse range of development opportunities for nurses embarking on their career in critical care or those experienced nurses with an enthusiasm for lifelong learning.
Main duties of the job
PACU currently has 6 enhanced recovery beds, soon to open to 8 beds. and supports the Elective Surgery program Monday to Saturday inclusively, with 12 hour shifts covering both days and nights.
Supporting the nursing staff in delivering the highest quality care to patients.Stocking up and ordering of stock and equipment. working alongside multi-disciplinary team. Opportunities to enhance clinical skills and promote own continued professional development.
