Action Contre La Faim

Created in 1979, Action Contre La Faim is a non-governmental organization that fights against hunger. Its charter of humanitarian principles – independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, and transparency – has been part of its identity for more than 40 years. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of under-nutrition, particularly during and after emergency situations linked to conflicts or natural disasters. Action Contre La Faim focuses its actions on 5 main areas of expertise: Nutrition and Health – Mental Health and Care Practices, Gender and Protection – Food Security and Livelihoods – Water, Sanitation and Hygiene – Advocacy. In 2018, Action Contre La Faim provided aid to 21 million people in more than 50 countries worldwide.

ACF has been working in Zimbabwe since 2002 and over the years, has been a key humanitarian actor in the country. Since 2015, ACF has adopted an intervention strategy focused on localization and capacity development through partnerships, in particular with two national organizations, NAZ (Nutrition Action Zimbabwe) and AA (Africa AHEAD). ACF has increased the size of its mission in the course of last year to adequately respond to the rising humanitarian needs.

Responsibilities:

Mission 1: Under the guidance of the Finance and HR Head, ensure administrative follow-up of local staff:

 File documents in the staff files;
 Ensure that staff sign for all relevant codes, policies after they are shared with them;
 Come up with a staff database and perform monthly updates;
 Update various HR statistics based on the available staff data;
 Update, register and provide staff lists for insurance purposes ;
 Under the guidance of the Head of HR, support the organisation of all staff meetings, taking of minutes and keeping a tracker of all HR issues coming out of the meetings.

Mission 2: Under guidance of the Finance and HR Head, support the performance of other Human
Resources functions:

 Support the payroll processing as assigned;
 Ensure all staff sign payslip copies for the file;
 Take part in the recruitment process – advertising, interview scheduling, preparation for tests;
 Take part in IR activities as they arise;
 Take part in the practical organisation of training (schedules, organisation of travels).

Mission 3: Under the guidance of the Snr Finance and Administration Officer, take part in the financial
management of the mission:

 Assist in following up on overdue advances;
 Assist in the filing of finance documents.
 Support the review of partner documents.
 Support in audit preparation.
 Any other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills required:

 A Degree in Administration, Human Resources, Finance or other relevant field.
 At least one year attachment with a reputable organization and good basic knowledge and understanding of accounting and HR fields.
 Knowledge of use of accounting packages is an added advantage.
 Comfortable with Excel and other MS packages.
 Good analytical skills.
 A good team player; with good human relations skills
 Meticulous with figures.
