Created in 1979, Action Contre La Faim is a non-governmental organization that fights against hunger. Its charter of humanitarian principles – independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, and transparency – has been part of its identity for more than 40 years. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of under-nutrition, particularly during and after emergency situations linked to conflicts or natural disasters. Action Contre La Faim focuses its actions on 5 main areas of expertise: Nutrition and Health – Mental Health and Care Practices, Gender and Protection – Food Security and Livelihoods – Water, Sanitation and Hygiene – Advocacy. In 2018, Action Contre La Faim provided aid to 21 million people in more than 50 countries worldwide.

ACF has been working in Zimbabwe since 2002 and over the years, has been a key humanitarian actor in the country. Since 2015, ACF has adopted an intervention strategy focused on localization and capacity development through partnerships, in particular with two national organizations, NAZ (Nutrition Action Zimbabwe) and AA (Africa AHEAD). ACF has increased the size of its mission in the course of last year to adequately respond to the rising humanitarian needs.
Responsibilities:
Mission 1: Provide support on Procurements.
Send out quotation requests as and when required.
Assist in preparation of procurement documents: Assessment tables, Suppliers Purchase Order (SPO) and contracts on LINK.
Purchase the articles that have been ordered and respect the ACF procedures;
Keep requesters informed on the advancement of their orders ;
Organize and follow up on deliveries ;
Negotiate prices with suppliers ;
Compare market prices ;
Keep the Suppliers list up to date ;
Keep the price catalogue up to date.
Transfer the approved invoices to the accounts department for payment to suppliers.
Assist in the review process of partner’s procurement documents.
Mission 2: Provide support on Inventory Management System.
Support in all logistics activities; inventory management, IKD accountability, stock management, tracking of materials and related commodities.
Be responsible for registering and conducting preliminary review of inventory at the central level during receipts and keeping of reposite database of tracking tools such as e-copies of waybills.
Conduct inventory count of stock periodically.
Spearhead the codification of inventory in the Capital.
Scrutinize, troubleshoot and report any discrepancies as it relates to logistics of stock and related commodities.
Be an integral member of ACFs’ inspection and receiving team for inbound commodities.
Support in the management of relationships with operations personnel, programs and other stakeholders to ensure that monitoring, receipt, warehousing and distribution of commodities and related materials are seamless.
Mission 3: Provide support on Filing, Archiving and Processing of Payments.
Support the process of archiving all logistics documents.
Support the reorganization and classification PD’s folders
Support the process of PD verification and Control by identifying missing documents using checklist.
Check all documents to ensure that the filling is correctly done and set up corrections or add missing data
Support the processing of payments for submission to finance.
Other roles as assigned by the Line Manager.

The Logistics intern is required to be flexible and adaptable with regards to the implementation of the daily work/activities;
The Logistics intern is expected to conduct all duties in a professional manner following Action Against Hunger Zimbabwe mission staff regulations and charter including promotion of gender equality.
The Logistics intern may be requested to work on an innovative project. In such case, will develop and present such project before the end of the internship.
Experience and Skills required:
A Graduate or someone in their final year of study in Logistics/Procurement/Supply Chain Management.
At least 1 year proven experience in a reputable organization if you have completed your studies.
Exceptional organization, time management, and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Approachable, diplomatic, able to work effectively in diverse, cross-cultural teams in a complex, multi-site,work environment.
Excellent computer literacy including all Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, rigorous, self-motivated and strong sense of responsibility.
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Highly organized, with exceptional time management skills to complete a wide variety of tasks.
Hardworking, flexible, and ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
