1. Purpose of the role:
To organize and oversee all security operations of the company. Manage security personnel, develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain security standards. Manage surveillance and emergency responses. Strong commitment to security rules and knowledge of all hazards and threats to safety. Create and preserve an environment where employees, visitors and property are safe and well-protected.
2. Objectives of the role:
· Maintain essential security operations including security tools, cameras, alarms, barriers and any other security equipment
· Manage security related projects, solutions and staff members within the Security Department
· Manage business-critical security requirements and administration
· Research and evaluate emerging security technology improvements to ensure minimal risk to the business
· Protect the business, its staff and assets from potential risk including theft, fraud and general harm
· Obtain and assess security intelligence and proactively implement preventative measures
3. Daily responsibilities
· Develop and implement security policies, protocols and procedures
· Gather security intelligence and implement preventative measures
· Plan and implement comprehensive security strategies
· Control the security budget, monitor expenses and document processes
· Prepare security equipment maintenance schedules and facilitate repairs in a timely manner
· Recruit, train and supervise security officers and guards
· Attend meetings with other managers and the senior management team to determine operational needs
· Plan and coordinate security operations for specific events and auctions run by the business
· Coordinate staff when responding to emergencies and alarms
· Review reports on incidents and breaches
· Investigate and resolve issues
· Create reports for management on security status
· Respond to security alerts outside of business hours as required
· Analyse data to form proposals for improvements including technology

· Project management skills – Knowledge of budgets, timeline management, vendor negotiation and coordination
· Management and leadership of teams – Conduct performance appraisals, recruitment and dismissals where necessary

The position supervises its subordinates through:

10. Minimum Hiring Standards:
Education:
- Security related degree or qualification
· Authentic security training
- Qualification by experience – only applicable if the incumbent has been in the same role for a minimum of 10 years.
Experience:
- 5 years in similar role
- Evidence of success in a similar role
- Extensive experience in preventing illegal activity and performing access control
- In-depth knowledge of security procedures and surveillance equipment
- Knowledge of security industry regulations
- Advanced ability to coordinate responses to security breaches and threats
- Superb leadership and organizational abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Availability to respond to security alerts outside of business hours
