SOFTWARE DEVELOPER (1 POST) (Language Technology and Resource Development)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, Data Science, or a related field from a recognized University.
- Proven track record with a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Software Developer, preferably in the context of Language Technology or Computational Linguistics.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Python and Java, with a strong understanding of software development principles.
- Hands-on experience in designing and implementing APIs, Web, and Mobile applications.
- In-depth knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring efficient data management.
- Familiarity with the Linux Operating System, demonstrating practical capability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with other units to design, develop, and implement innovative software programs and research solutions.
- Works closely with linguistic experts and researchers to understand project requirements and contribute to the development of language resources.
- Designs and maintains software databases, including web and mobile applications and user interfaces, tailored to the specific needs of language research projects.
- Independently installs, customizes, and integrates commercial software packages to enhance language technology capabilities.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis, review existing code, and perform unit testing to ensure the reliability and efficiency of applications.
- Identifies opportunities to improve system performance and enhance the impact and availability of applications.
- Contributes to the development of technical specifications and plans.
- Keeps informed about the latest technological developments in the industry.
- Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, translating technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrates versatility and adaptability, seamlessly transitioning between tasks without compromising efficiency or composure.
- Discharges any other job-related duties and responsibilities assigned by the Executive Director.
