Job Advert Summary The succesful candidate will carry out scheduled planned and unplanned maintenance in a competent manner, in support with the Asset Care Plan and towards the achievement of the Engineering department’s Key Performance Indicators.
Minimum Requirements
    • Five (5) Ordinary Level passes including Mathematics and English
    • National Certificate in Machine Shop Engineering (Apprenticeship trained/Trade tested)
    • 5 years’ experience in clinker or cement manufacturing or mining environment
    • Good safety record as an artisan, observant and responsive to hazards and risks.
    • Good communication skills
    • Willingness to learn and aspire for high-performance standards.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Willingness to work shifts and standby duties where appropriate.
    • Perform stand-by duties.
    • Train apprentices and Handymen
Duties and Responsibilities
    • Perform planned and unplanned maintenance activities in a timely and cost-effective manner to the correct standard.
    • Complete job cards correctly and accurately with respect to time, asset classes, sub-classes, and failure causes.
    • Participate in SHEQ leading indicators identification, reporting, and pre-task risk assessments.
    • Submit Asset Care Change suggestions for Continuous Improvement purposes.
    • Liaise with Planning personnel to ensure that work order feedback is captured correctly.
    • Create requests for spares and materials and interact with stores issuing personnel.
    • Perform metalworking, machining, and fabrication activities.
    • Perform preliminary failure diagnostics on equipment failures to take remedial action.
    • Identify proactive maintenance opportunities.
  • Provides feedback to the Foreman on the execution of work for Continuous Improvement and for the enhancement of future planning.
