Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture (CNFA)

Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture (CNFA) is an international agricultural development organization, with headquarters offices in Washington DC, specializing in designing and implementing sustainable, market-led agricultural initiatives. CNFA builds strong local and global partnerships, incorporates innovative approaches into programs, and fosters inclusive development to offer enhanced opportunities to under-served groups. CNFA has worked in Southern Africa since 2002 and has completed various programs in the areas of agriculture input supply, rural marketing systems, soil fertility, agriculture finance, extension and organization development in Madagascar Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

CNFA has been an implementer of the Farmer-to- Farmer (F2F) Program in since 2008, with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The primary goal of the F2F program is to generate rapid, sustained economic growth in the agricultural sector. This is accomplished through technical assistance provided by short-term volunteer consultants from the United States- many with decades of agribusiness experience, and highly trained local staff.

CNFA is currently seeking a Program Coordinator to be based in Harare (English language skills required).

Position Summary:

The F2F Program Coordinator assists the country director with all aspects of program implementation. The coordinator establishes new relationships with potential program beneficiary organizations, analyses the needs of those organizations, and coordinates assignments and logistics for volunteer consultants and conducts other tasks as needed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare comprehensive and quality documents and reports (host profiles, host strategies, scopes of work, etc.)
Introduce the Farmer-to-Farmer program to potential new hosts.
Document and manage a portfolio of CNFA volunteer projects.
Develop and maintain regular communication (both written and oral) with CNFA hosts to assess their needs, status changes, and satisfaction with the CNFA program. Most of the communication with hosts occurs in rural areas.
Manage service providers to volunteers (translators, taxi drivers and others) to ensure smooth completion of assignments.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Country Director.

REQUIREMENTS

University degree (preferably in agriculture or a related and relevant field).
At least one (1) year professional experience in assignments relevant to the F2F Country Program;
Fluency in English required additional local language proficiency is preferred;
Experience in agricultural production, marketing and/or development;
Ability to network effectively with country agricultural sector stakeholders;
Proven leadership in managing work teams and executing complex projects; and
Demonstrated competence in managing administrative responsibilities.
