Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and dynamic team member to join our UHB Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the rehabilitation of patients that are limited by breathlessness due to their respiratory condition.
The team provide Pulmonary Rehabilitation in hospital and community venues across North East Birmingham and Solihull.
As a therapy support worker within the team, your role would involve assessing patients for classes and supporting patients through their Pulmonary Rehabilitation journey. The role would also involve supporting qualified team members including, Registered Nurses, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. In this role you would work under the supervision of and carry out therapy tasks delegated by qualified team members.
There will also be opportunity for you to take the initiative to be involved in other projects within the team and support the service in the process of becoming accredited.
The trust is committed to providing a 7 day service and therefore, should the service provision expand, the post holder will be expected to support the extended hours

Qualifications
Essential
Education to GCSE level or equivalent including English and maths
Able to demonstrate competence in maths and written and spoken English
Educated to A Level / NVQ 3/ BTEC or equivalent (e.g NVQ 2 or similar vocational qualification PLUS experience working in a care setting)
Care certificate or be willing to work towards this
Experience
Essential
Relevant therapy / health / social care experience
Experience of dealing with people
Experience of working in a team
Can demonstrate a broad understanding of relevant areas of therapy, the effect of illness/critical conditions / disability on function and health and basic aims of rehabilitation
Good understanding of the role of therapy support worker in the relevant area
Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in healthcare
