QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Accounting/ Finance/ Economics 2. Diploma in Finance/ Accounting
- At least 4 years’ experience in FMCG industry
SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
- Experience in working with executives and providing professional, accurate and strategic advice
- An understanding of Human resource management concepts.
- An understanding of various statutes governing the operations of a retail supermarket
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take a lead role in ensuring the cash office is well managed
- Review and capture all petty cash payment and ensure they have the necessary supporting documents before they are authorized by the Shop Manager.
- Ensure that all financial regulatory requirements are adhered to at shop level.
- Take an active role in the preparation of shop’s annual and monthly financial budgets.
- Perform scheduled budget-variance analysis and investigate budget to actual result discrepancies, and provide recommendations to management.
- Inspect and ensure the shop’s receiving and accounting procedures have been observed at all times.
- Review and ensure that all input into the accounting software in use has relevant supporting documents and all stock adjustments are duly authorized.
- Ensure that all supplier invoices have been inputted into the accounting software and conduct the necessary reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Capture expense invoices into accounting software in use and ensuring correct allocation.
- Reconcile the Sales & IPOS Control Accounts on a daily basis and ensure that reconciling items are cleared on a daily basis
- Review the Daily Till Operators summaries and ensure they are dully authorized by the Store Manager and post the respective cashbook batches into the accounting system
- Review and ensure all bank reconciliations for the Shop are performed on a daily basis.
- Review daily cash ups reports and z-reading analysis with a view to taking corrective measures where necessary
- Review the sales/tender type control reconciliations on a daily basis and ensure anomalies are promptly addressed
- Ensure that all store control accounts including goods in transit, inter branch transfers are reconciled daily
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register for the store in liaison with Loss Control team.
- Prepare all financial reports in prescribed formats within stipulated deadlines.
- Maintain an efficient filing system that enable easy retrieval of all financial records as and when required.
- Liaise with Head Office Accountant and ensure that monthly management reports
- The incumbent is accountable for the production of the following reports: (i) Trading Accounts (ii) Daily Statistics (iii) Cash and bank analysis (iv) Expense trackers.
- Assist management with safeguarding company’s resources by ensuring compliance with accounting and internal controls as laid down by the university.
- Participate in both Internal and External Audits, and work with assigned Audit personnel to close any control gaps noted for the shop.
- Mentor & coach departmental staff.
