Reports to: District Engineer

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced, self driven and results oriented individuals to fill the following position that have arisen within Zvimba Rural District Council

DUTIES

Providing support to District Engineer in the Design, tendering process, construction supervision and management of a variety of (in-house and private contractors) road. Wash and Construction Projects
Conducting Civil Infrastructure condition inspection/surveys to determine scope of works for road, WASH Infrastructure upgrading/rehabilitation interventions to address defects and problems
Providing support on inspections civil infrastructure being done by individuals, developers etc
Preparation of detailed Bills of Quantities for civil infrastructure rehabilitation or new construction
Ensuring work is carried out according to standards or specifications, within the budget and set timelines
Ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety guidelines as well as managing projects impacts on Environment
Resolving and Processing contractor´s claims, variation orders and payment certificates
Supervision and performance management
Engagement of stakeholders
Any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Skills and Competencies
Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles, practises, and methods as applicable to government and council setting, some knowledge of applicable council policies by laws and regulations relating to infrastructure development
Ability to analyse survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geotechnical data to execute projects
Ability to use a computer utilising standard and specialised software e.g AutoCAD, Civil 3D used in planning, modeling and design of civil infrastructure is a requirement

Requirements
Minimum of a Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering or BSc in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years experience for degree holders and 5 years for HND holders preferably in a local authority or similar organisational operations
Membership with ZIE or ECZ in the Technical/ Corporate Member grade a must
A clean class four drivers licence will be an added advantage
No criminal record
Project management qualification is an added advantage
