ZIMPARKS – Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above position in the Terrestrial Ecology Unit under the Scientific Services Division in the Parks and Wildlife Management Authority.
Duties (Responsibilities)
- Conduct ecological feasibility assessments,
- Formulate research projects,
- Mobilize resources for research and monitoring projects,
- Acquisition, operation, and maintenance of equipment,
- Organizing field work where appropriate,
- Co-ordinate the collection of data for research and monitoring projects as assigned by the supervisor,
- Laboratory analysis of samples collected in the field,
- Data analysis and report writing,
- Supervision of junior staff,
- Co-ordinate and supervise external researchers,
- Update and develop Protected Area Management Plans (PAMPs) and Species-Specific Management Plans (SSMPs),
- To contribute towards work plan and budget for research unit,
- Draft weekly, situational, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, and
- Any other duty as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- An appropriate degree in Natural Sciences;
- Specialties in the following areas are preferred Wildlife Ecology, Natural Resources, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) or any relevant Environment degree related to wildlife conservation
- An MSc will be an added advantage,
- Ability to work with minimum supervision,
- Good analytical skill including use of data analysis tools such as R or STATISTICA,
- Appreciation of use of Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART), and
- Computer literacy
