Reporting to the Director Marketing, Information and Public Relations, the incumbent shall be responsible for assisting in organizing and overseeing the University’s public relations activities that include:  corporate communications, speech and report writing, PR strategy and ensure effective communication with stakeholders, media and public.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Website content development and management.
  • Generating, editing and proof reading articles or content.
  • Production and generation of adverts and promotional materials.
  • Managing the University’s image through competent press relations, stakeholder engagement facilitation, gathering market intelligence, keeping the public informed about the goings in the University.
  • Attending to public relations activities e.g. trade fairs, career guidance exhibits, brand development, sustenance and management.
  • Gathering information and compiling cooperate communication documents such as newsletters, annual reports, speeches, etc.
  • Actively participate in marketing the University both internally and externally.
  • Promoting good communication between and among University authorities, staff, students, industry and the community at large.
  • Assisting in arrangement of public lectures and open days among other activities.
  • Servicing University committees.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • First Degree in Marketing/Media Studies/Public Relations/Communication or equivalent plus at least 4 years post qualification relevant experience.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations.
  • Possess good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills at all levels within and outside the University.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Problem solving aptitude.
  • Experience as a Public Relations Officer or similar role is a distinct advantage
