Background
DanChurchAid (DCA) is a Danish faith-based civil society organization. It was founded in 1922 by representatives of the Danish Evangelical Church, which continues to be a key DCA constituency. DCA is also supported by volunteers, supporters, and staff working hard to save lives in many countries. DanChurchAid supports the needy and the poorest of the world in their struggle for a dignified and better life and helps those whose lives are threatened. The DCA-Zimbabwe is currently working towards enhanced biodiversity protection and climate actions aimed at improving livelihoods.

Position Summary
The Graduate Research Intern will be part of the research team and will be responsible for desk research, data collection in the field, training and supervision of a team of data collectors, monitoring surveys and data analysis. The GRI is expected to have grounded knowledge and understanding of the landscape (Nyaminyami, Hurungwe, Mbire and Muzarabani) and have a good knowledge of the stakeholders in that space. The incumbent will be the contact person for the communities and will work closely with relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities
· Train and supervise data collectors. Ensure that study aim is well communicated to the interviewees.
· Ensure the data is correctly compiled and ready for analyses.
· Maintain good communication channels between the communities and the research team
· Conduct a literature review and prepare data for analysis.
· Mapping biodiversity protection, climate action and livelihood stakeholders
· Document case studies of innovative and community level stories of sustainability
· Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications
· A Masters degree in Environmental Science/Studies, Forestry, Geography, Anthropology, Applied Research, Agriculture. Natural Resources Management, Natural Resource Economics, Biodiversity, Social Ecology, Ecology, Geographic Information Systems or related fields.
· Experience in conducting research, interviews and working with rural communities. Should be quick in understanding, keen in taking instructions but also pro-active and able to work with minimum supervision.
· Ability to work in multi-cultural and multi-national environments.
· Good skills in written and oral English language as well as (local) languages
· Good interpersonal and inter-organizational working experience and collaborating closely with multi-level stakeholders.
· demonstrated ability to work effectively in team situations.
· Experience working with GPS devices is an asset.
