DUTIES

The incumbent serves as assistant to the Motor Pool Supervisor in all administrative matters including the development and analysis of vehicle maintenance and usage reports and documents; the development and maintenance of computer programs, and the drafting of correspondence and documents. The incumbent will operate a passenger motor vehicle, light truck or other vehicle to transport Embassy personnel, official visitors and cargo within Harare or around Zimbabwe, and will be required to work different shifts such as duty driver.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

Two years of administrative work experience and one year of driving experience is required.

Education Requirements:

Successful completion of secondary school is required.

LANGUAGE:

English:

Level 3 – Good working knowledge; speaking, reading & writing

Shona/Ndebele:

Level 3 – Good working knowledge; speaking, reading & writing

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications with the ability to use MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with Motorpool customers is required.
  • Basic keyboarding and good numerical skills (for time and attendance processing) are required.
  • Should be able to lift 20lbs.
  • Must have Class 2 Driver’s license for a minimum of five years.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must know local traffic laws and regulations, patterns, basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Good knowledge of office administration is required.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records is required.
  • A working knowledge of general logistics and transport management is required.
