Job Description

The Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ) is a government-owned corporation that is responsible for the marketing of Zimbabwe’s minerals. We are currently seeking three highly qualified and experienced Monitors to join our team.

The Monitors will be responsible for examining and keeping records relating to production or sales of minerals at producer’s mines, monitoring and auditing mineral production processes and value chains, monitoring sales and verifying mineral consignment before dispatch from mine or plant, and performing other related duties.

The monitors will be based outside of Harare and rotated from time to time. If you have a degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Technology, Geology, or any other relevant degree, and 3 years of relevant experience in metallurgical accounting, mineral identification, analysis, and process audits, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examine and keep records relating to production or sales of minerals at producer’s mines.
  • Monitor and audit mineral production processes and value chains.
  • Monitor sales and verify mineral consignment before dispatch from mine or plant.
  • Verify seals, weighing of minerals, and relevant documentation on delivery from mines.
  • Produce metallurgical accounts and refer samples of metallurgical streams for assay at independent laboratories.
  • Sample mineral consignments before export or metallurgical streams for verification at independent laboratories.
  • Monitor and facilitate the tender process and check compliance with regulatory procedures.
  • Curtail potential mineral leakages and under declarations by all stakeholders.
  • Maintain and analyze records of exchange assays from both producers and customers.
  • Submit weekly and monthly operations reports.
  • Check compliance with relevant laws by producers and recommend improvements.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the superior.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Technology, Geology, or any other relevant degree.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in metallurgical accounting, mineral identification, analysis, and process audits.
  • Clean Class 4 Driver’s License.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Willingness to be based outside of Harare and rotate from time to time.
