The Senior Logistics Officer will be part of a mobile and multi-skilled team providing the transportation, inspection, quality control, receipt, safe custody and warehousing of goods on behalf of the client.
Cargo Management : To coordinate with shipping companies, port agents, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely loading and unloading of goods, proper documentation, and compliance with customs and regulatory requirements.
Documentation and Compliance : To handle the preparation and/ or verification of freight-related documents, such as bills of lading, shipping manifests, customs declarations, and permits. To ensure compliance with international trade regulations, import/export requirements, and any applicable customs procedures.
Logistics Coordination: To manage the logistics aspects of freight operations, including arranging for transportation, coordinating with trucking companies for pickup and delivery, and ensuring timely movement of cargo between the port and its final destination. To also handle container tracking and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Financial and Administrative Tasks :To handle financial aspects of cargo operations, including invoicing, payment processing, and budgeting. To also manage administrative tasks such as maintaining records, filing documentation, and preparing reports related to cargo movements, costs, and performance metrics.
Problem Resolution : Responsible for resolving any issues or challenges that arise during freight operations. This may include addressing delays, coordinating with customs authorities for clearance, resolving disputes or discrepancies in cargo documentation, and managing any unforeseen events that impact cargo movement.
Industry Knowledge and Continuous Improvement : To stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in freight logistics. To continuously seek opportunities to improve operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction by implementing innovative solutions and optimizing processes.
Customer Service : To provide excellent customer service by maintaining regular communication with clients, addressing their inquiries and concerns promptly, and ensuring a high level of responsiveness throughout the freight process. To strive to meet or exceed customer expectations and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- Must have a Degree in Supply Chain Management/ A masters would be an added advantage.
- Must have at least 5 years experience in a senior logistics position.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must have high computer skills.
- Must have good administration skills.
- Must have good time management skills.
- Must be a great initiator.
- Has the ability to work under pressure.
