Overview of the role
Assist the IT Officer with desktop support, troubleshooting desktop hardware/software problems, and carrying out projects as assigned in a culturally diverse environment. Properly document support, repair, and project activities using a helpdesk ticketing system. In general, free the IT Officer from some of the day-to-day issues so he/she can focus on larger projects and IT initiatives.
The position entails frequent travel to the GOAL field office to provide IT support.
Main responsibilities
• Provide support in diagnosing hardware and software issues and troubleshooting activities.
• Assist in handling data migration duties.
• Handle periodic maintenance of hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot equipment such as printers and scanners and other peripherals.
• Carry-out system and equipment maintenance tasks, such as back-up system data and system protection, to ensure they are running effectively and enable easy and efficient use.
• Undertake basic monitoring and troubleshooting of IT systems to ensure a consistent delivery of IT services to staff.
• Respond to basic queries about technology and systems to support the correct application of technology.
• With direction from supervisor, collate information to be included in standard material such as training documentation, to contribute to the availability of information about services and products.
• Assist in setting up and maintenance of IT policies and procedures.
• Provide training and administrative support to end users; perform routine PC maintenance and updates for performance efficiency.
• Process and prioritise help desk support requests.
• Assist in maintaining Internet service, firewalls.
• Ask questions and get information in order to diagnose computer problems and discern what level of support is needed when a problem is presented.
• Perform hardware and systems preventive and corrective maintenance
• Identify training needs of system users
• Provide training to new employees and other training sessions as required
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements (Person Specification)
• Computer office suite and the use of other equipment, as needed.
• Be intrinsically motivated and be a self-starter.
• Analysing issues, evaluating alternatives, and developing recommendations.
• Be innovative and able to think outside the box.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
Essential
• Degree in information systems or equivalent with at least one-year post graduate practical experience in computer systems operations.
• Knowledgeable in Azure Active Directory structure; software installations, backup, and archive; hardware and software troubleshooting; printer and system maintenance; proficient in Office 365
• NGO Experience desired.
