About the Role

The Procurement and IT role provides best practice services and support in procurement, logistics, ICT, inventories management and accurate purchases across the organization including policy compliance and value for money. It monitors the implementation of existing systems and propose improvements and developments to those systems where appropriate. This role will demonstrate high standards of honesty and integrity that contribute to sound procurement processes as well as feed into our five strategic areas to achieve change ambitions, deliver performance, generate funds, strengthen organizational profile and invest in people.

DUTIES

The role will among other things:

  • Ensure that Practical Action maintains transparency, integrity and compliance with established policies and procedures of the organization and relevant donor regulations.
  • Develop and implement a performance driven supplier management process, efficient standardized procurement tools, practices and procedures including supplier contract development and contract performance management.
  • Contribute to the implementation of and review of procurement policies on a regular basis to ensure relevance and conformance with best practices and compliance with internal and regulatory policies.
  • Ensure smooth operations of information technology across the organization while being supported by Head Office.
  • Ensure high standard IT risk management and thorough policy rollout to all staff including provision of orientation/training/support on existing and new systems/technology to all users.
  • Ensure appropriate daily and weekly data backup for servers and users and that technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of technology hardware, software, and resources.
  • Perform other related duties as required during and after working hours.

REQUIREMENTS

You will be expected to possess the following:

  • A background in Procurement, Logistics, and IT management.
  • Professional qualification in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management- being a registered member of the CIPS will be an added advantage.
  • Organized, results driven and good planning & coordination skills.
  • Strong data analytics and quantitative reasoning skills.
  • Strong Computer skills in Microsoft Office Packages including advanced Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets).
  • A clean class four (4) driver’s license with at least 2 years’ experience.
