Job summary

A full-time post has become available for a Healthcare Assistant on ward 14. Ward 14 is a general surgical ward, incorporating our surgical enhanced care patients and we care for a wide range of surgical patients including colorectal, urology, and ENT patients. We are committed to delivering the highest standards of care, so what we ask in return is that you have a willingness to learn and have a clear understanding of the expectations of the role. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who has excellent communication skills and is committed to helping to deliver first class care. The post is fully rotational so in turn we need you to be flexible and reliable

Previous experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided

Main duties of the job

To work as part of a team on the ward, as well as part of the wider multidisciplinary teams, to deliver the highest standards of care to all patients. Ensuring all individuals needs are met, whilst maintaining safety and quality.

  • Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding.
  • Understanding of quality and change in the clinicalsetting
  • Able to present factual information and refer questions to others where appropriate.
  • Able to deal with sensitiveissues with tact and diplomacy
  • An understanding of organisation of nursing care.
  • Basic I.T. skills in E mail
  • Basic understanding of NHS issues.
  • Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues in the healthcare setting.
  • Carry out clinical interventions as delegated by a RN as agreed by local protocols
  • Good attendance record
  • Able to perform a wide range of duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
