An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within CYPS inpatient wards at Ferndene Hospital
Ferndeneis a purpose-built £27million inpatient Mental Health and Learning Disability Hospital which provides Assessment and Treatment for young people between the ages of 13 – 18 years old. Itwas the first such integrated service of its kind in the countryand is basedon the former Prudhoe Hospital site, 12 miles west of Newcastle. The modern facilities provide accommodation for children and young people from North East England and Cumbria. Some of the specialist services also getreferrals from across the United Kingdom. Opened in autumn 2011, the purpose-built centre provides a range of therapeutic educational, social and recreational facilities.
Ferndene was designed with the involvement of service users, their carers and children from the local community. Design features enable the integration of internal and external space using a woodland theme. The ethos of Ferndene is to offer a calm and therapeutic environment, ensuring young people experience an ordinary routine during their stay by separating living and educational space.
Applications are invited from candidates who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the enthusiasm and passion to deliver and maintain high standards of clinical care.
Main duties of the job
You must have a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe, patient care and be a good role model in reflecting the Trusts core values. You will be provided with training opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills, offered regular supervision and support and have ongoing well-being conversations.
The Nursing Assistant role will:
- To work within a multi-disciplinary team assisting in the development and implementation of collaborative, needs based care plans.
- To support the team in providing excellent and effective person centred, nursing care.
- They are actively involved in the health and wellbeing of staff and service users.
- They are visible and accessible to patients, families and carers working together to ensure efficient, effective and caring service.
- They contribute to achieving all performance indicators, essential standards and quality outcomes
- Deliver and maintain high standards of clinical care; implementing individual plans of care based on a person centred assessment.
- Provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.
- Assist in the delivery of therapeutic clinical based interventions and activities which meet individual needs embracing equality and diversity.
- Engage in regular family/carer contact/support to encourage collaborative decision making.
- Have the courage to speak out, challenge and help inform the future of nursing care.
