BAT Zimbabwe

BAT Zimbabwe is looking for AMARKETING DEPLOYMENT INTERN to join our team for a fixed term contract of one year.

REPORTS TO: Marketing Deployment Executive

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

Being at the forefront of our business, the role of Trade Marketing & Distribution is to excite shoppers to buy and customers to sell our brands, to help achieve our growth objectives. The Group TM&D strategy is therefore built around 3 core competencies: (1) Route to Market, (2) Adult Tobacco Shopper Marketing and (3) Customer Management. These are reinforced through people’s capabilities and systems.

To support development of customers/channels to achieve an increase in volumes & share across portfolio as well as assist in the development and implementation of consumer and promotional activities in line with the brand objectives

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

Customer Management

Support sale team in the development of customers programs and investments based on customer and channel insights
Liaise with research providers to ensure alignment and delivery on expected KPIs
Rigorously analyse and report marketing research data to ensure brand issues are understood and corrective action identified.
Recommend and manage all brand activity to ensure fit with brand strategy, IMP and corporate guidelines.
Control brand support expenditure to ensure brand profit objectives are achieved.
Manage external agencies to ensure all brand activity is in line with the requirements of the brief.
Handle communication between Trade Development and Trade Marketing and Operations to ensure the cycle plan activities are effectively executed.
Apply best practice in brand management to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
Implement a Key Accounts plan with customized trade programs to meet business objectives and ensure superior performance.
Execute the marketing activities in the outlets to meet customer and consumer objectives as described in the cycle plan.
Train and educate customers if necessary, providing required material and instructions on BAT brands
Negotiate retail touchpoints in (i.e. Attract, Interact, Act) based on communication strategy in the trade
Work with appointed Marketing Procurement resource to ensure procurement of agreed specs at the best possible price
Ensure suppliers are managed guided by the Supplier Management Framework

Management

Effective management of relationship with the area and regional Research, TM&D and Brand teams.
Manage all assigned funds, materials and equipment in a secure and efficient manner in order to maximize the use of organization assets.
Monitor brand’s performance in all channels including Key Accounts outlets (BAT’s and competitors’).
Manage and coordinate all Area research projects at end market level.

People Development

Actively participate in business development projects (e.g., trade incentive schemes, internal brand awareness campaigns, etc.).
Support change management projects within Marketing Team.
Ensure attendance of all approved training programs and show visible application of acquired knowledge.
Contribute to the development of a strong control environment within Marketing.

Shopper Marketing

Input into the development and implementation of shopper Marketing activities
Provide ideas on how to develop retail touchpoints in outlets.
Continuously implement new and innovative solutions to ensure increased visibility in market for BAT.
Champion innovation in products and processes to achieve competitive advantage.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Marketing Degree
Prior experience in Sales & Marketing would be an advantage.
The jobholder must be able to demonstrate an interest in and awareness of product development, trade, and consumer insights, copy strategy and ATL/BTL communication.
Customer Engagement including Trade / Customer Investment Frameworks
Sales/Key Account Management
Good communicator
Ability to analyse data and implement robust strategies
Driving license – added advantage
