Main duties of the job
We have vacancies in this exciting service set up within Bedfordshire where you will have the opportunity to work with people living with dementia and other mental health diagnosis in order to reduce distress and increase their quality of life as well as those that care for them.
About us
The Dementia Intensive Support Service and Older People’s Crisis Team will provide an urgent response to people living with dementia and other mental health conditions in their own homes and 24hour care settings 7 days per week, 365 days per year from the hours of 9am to 8pm. With a 4 hour response time, timely and effective assessment and excellent care planning strategies will be key to helping people to stay in their own homes with reduced levels of distress, reduce 1:1 supervision and prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and transfers of care.

We are looking for applicants that have the necessary skills and experience and may come from either in patient or community background.
Person Specification
Education/Qualification/Training
Essential
- Minimum 5 GCSEs A-C including English and Maths
Desirable
- NVQ in care level 2/3 or equivalent level of training/ qualification
Experience
Essential
- Clinical experience of working with adults with mental health problems in either a health or social care setting
Desirable
- Experience of working in a community setting. Experience of working in a Home Treatment team and with individuals in crisis. Experience of working with families and carer.
Knwledge and Skills
Essential
- Fluent in both oral and written English.
- Ability to form appropriate and respectful working relationships with a diverse range of people.
- Ability to respond positively to people who are distressed or who behave in a challenging manner.
- Ability to relate and listen to people with mental health problems and provide emotional support and care
- Ability to complete assessment to identify needs of service user.
- Ability to maintain clear, concise and timely written communication.
- Ability to reflect on own working practice and its impact upon service users and other MDT staff.
- Ability to appropriately deal with conflict arising with service users, carers/families.
- Car user to travel to care homes and service user’s homes in the county.
