POSITION : Instruments Technician (1 Position)
GRADE : 9
REPORTING TO : Foreman- Radio and Instruments
LOCATION : Traffic Signals Workshop- Bishop Gaul Avenue
DEPARTMENT : WORKS

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill in the above mentioned vacancy in the Electrical and Mechanical Services Division of the Department of Works.

JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent shall be responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all Instruments and Control equipment for City of Harare.

KEY RESULT AREAS

 Implements electrical instrumentation monitoring and improvement projects.
 Calibration of machines and field instruments as required to OEM specifications.
 Installation and maintenance of medical equipment, PLC based traffic controllers radio and telemetry communication system.
 Implements planned preventive maintenance schedules
 Attends to Instruments Faults, carries out diagnosis and electrical repairs of Instruments and Control Equipment.
 Evaluates and documents diagnosis test results.
 Trains and supervises subordinate, apprentices, assistants and students.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience for apprentice trained candidates or 5 years post qualifying experience for non-apprentice trained candidates in a relevant environment.
 Minimum National Diploma in Instruments and Control Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
 Minimum 2 ‘A’ Levels in science subjects.
 Certification in WinCC or any other SCADA system is an added advantage.
 Certification in PLCs programming is an added advantage.
 Clean Class 4 (four) driver’s licence

DESIRED COMPETENCES

 Competent in SCADA systems and PLCs
 Working knowledge of radio networks and telemetry systems
 Team player
 Good analytical skills, communication and technical skills.
 Able to work with minimum supervision
