JOB : PRINCIPAL BUYER (1 Position)
GRADE : 6
REPORTING TO : HEAD: PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT UNIT

JOB PURPOSE:

The Principal Buyer provides procurement expertise and assists stakeholder to plan, develop, and manage procurement arrangements to effectively meet organisational objectives.

Key Result Areas

 Keeping up to date with procurement policy, processes and legislation and building knowledge of the business and supplier markets.
 Explore business opportunities and contribute to the development of procurement strategies and supply arrangements
 Provide reports, analyse and advice to support procurement decision-making
 Validates stakeholder business needs, compile and source market information, and assist in analysing markets and assessing risk to inform procurement planning and sourcing decisions
 Conducts sourcing activities in accordance with established policies and procedures to meet business needs and participates in negotiations to establish and review supply arrangements that will deliver value for money procurement outcomes
 Provides advice, information and guidance on procurement related matters to user departments to provide governance and support good practices in procurement
 Identifies, mitigates and escalades procurement risks to enable the organisation to meet its obligations and maximise business opportunities
 Performance Management in context of IRBM

Qualifications and Experience

 University degree in Supply Chain Management/ Procurement
 At least five (5) years post qualifying experience at middle management level
 Post graduate qualification in Management (e.g., MBA, MBL or MSc) or Diploma in CIPS will be an added advantage
 A clean class four driver`s licence is a must
 Membership to a professional board is a must
