Logistics Officer

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the job is based at the Mine and is responsible for the following;

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

• Coordinate and monitor supply chain operations including customs clearing of imports and exports.
• Supervise orders and arrange stocking of critical materials and equipment to ensure they meet operational needs.
• Communicate with suppliers and service providers to achieve profitable transportation deals.
• Plan and track the shipment of materials according to internal customer requirements.
• Maintain trackers, logs, and records of executed orders, delivery status and customs clearing status for imports.
• Work closely with suppliers to obtain needed materials for operations and projects with particular attention to cost control, quality and timely delivery.
• Engage with user departments to formulate short-term and long-term strategic logistics plans to maximise value.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• A University Degree in Supply Chain Management.
• CIPS qualification and/ Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
• At least 5 years experience working as a Logistics Officer in a heavy industry environment. Experience in the mining industry is an added advantage.
• Solid knowledge of Public procurement.
• Solid knowledge of managing imports and exports.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management systems.
