Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Cardiology department for a highly motivated, confident and forward thinking individiual to work as a healthcare assistant.We have full time positions available with a mixture of long days and nights, Monday – Sunday within our Cardiac Sciences Wards at Hammersmith Hospital.
Heart Assessment Centre – is a busy 9 bedded area with 3 assessment trolleys. Patients with different types of cardiac conditions ranging from acute myocardial infarction and arrhythmia to patients in cardiac arrest and is known as Hammersmith’s front door.
Ward A7 – houses a five bedded CCU area where level 2 care is provided as well as having 20 step down beds with the capacity to cardiac monitor 15 of these.
Ward C8 – comprises of 18 mixed cardiology/care of the elderly beds. Pulmonary Hypertension patients requiring assessment and on-going treatment, heart failure patients needing stablisation of their condition and TAVI patients’ pre/post procedure are all cared for within this setting.
Ward A9 – is a 20 bedded Cardiothoracic Surgical Ward caring for patients with complex cardiac and thoracic needs both pre and post-surgery.As well as taking step downs from ITU following extensive Cardiac surgery our service is evolving and Enhanced Recovery for Thoracic Surgery is currently being introduced.
Main duties of the job
- To assist and support the registered nurse, under supervision, with the delivery of direct patient care, with the needs of the patient at the centre of care delivery
