Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Practitioner service to appoint full time Band 3 Health care to work within the ED Directorate across all our sites. (Good Hope Hospital, Heartland’s hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Solihull hospital.

These will be successful candidates with two years nursing experience in any health care setting. This role starts with assisting the trained nurses and practitioners in assessment and treatment skills in minor injuries and minor illnesses within emergency medicine.

These will be health care assessment with the willingness to learn and offer a few hours a week in ED on Bank. Once your training is completed, you will be able to work on the other departments on the same grade where your skills are required

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The post holder will:

-Utilise approved scope of practice.

Assisting the clinical and nursing team in providing nursing care of patients in the minors’ streams and appropriate patients in ED, including referral to other specialities for advice and review.

-Behave consistently with the values and beliefs of the organisation and promote these on a day to day basis.

-Act as a role model to colleagues, always seeking to maintain highest standards of professionalism.

-Use initiative and take responsibility for themselves and the quality of their work and service they provide to patients

-Develop a profile to ensure patients in the minors’ stream are seen within the 4 hour target, irrespective of patient profile.

– working within individual scope of practice.

Qualifications

Essential

Evidence of completion of a Health Related Education and Development programme/ Care Certificate

GCSE or equivalent to Level 2 Functional Skills Maths & English

Experience

Essential

Experience of recent working in an acute hospital / provider led healthcare environment as an Health Care Support Worker

Evidence of working in a multidisciplinary and cross agency work environment

Experience of carrying out assigned duties after training and using initiative

Awareness of Health and Safety issues

Has knowledge in relation to the parameters and scope of practice in which the post holder should work and when to seek advice and support of others

Willingness to take on new skills and develop scope of practice
