Main duties of the job

In accordance with patients individual care plan, support patients to meet and maintain theirhygiene needs, this may include actions such as:
o Undertake total hygiene needs for patientso Assist patients to wash and dresso Assist patients to showero Assist patients with / undertake mouth care, c/o teeth / dentureso Assist with / undertake care of hairo Assist with / undertake nail careo Undertake eye careo Assist patients with / undertake shavingo Reporting and documentation of all patient care activities, to includeo improvement, deterioration and changes

Job responsibilities
We require enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Assistants to work within our busy medical and surgical ward areas and urgent and emergency care which offer a variety of specialisms and opportunities.
We have part-time and full-time vacancies available however commitment is required to cover all shifts, days/nights/weekends on a rotation basis
George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is passionate about patient care. The successful candidate will be expected to complete the Care Certificate and a HCA Development programme at Level 2 / Level 3 depending upon experience as part of their role and must be committed to completion of these within the required time frame

We also offer a full training programme which includes the following:
- One week formal HCA programme (Care Certificate) to enhance knowledge base and clinical skills;
- Local induction;
- Competency pack following HCA programme to build evidence of knowledge, skills and competence;
- Undertake a QCF/NVQ / Apprenticeship development programme;
- Support in practice/buddy system
Successful short listed candidates will be invited to attend an assessment day. As part of the assessment day there will be a requirement to undertake Literacy and Numeracy assessment, followed by a scenario based interview.

Essential
- Experience of working in a healthcare environment
- Has an understanding of basic health care requirements
- Good standard of written English

- Acute hospital healthcare experience
