Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic person to join our Macmillan support team. You will work along side the Macmillan cancer survivorship manager to deliver a high level of information and support to both patients and their carers throughout the cancer pathway.

You will assess clients to ensure they are given the appropriate support.

You will maintain links with the community including social prescribers to ensure services are appropriate for users.

You will supervise and support Macmillan volunteers within the service and participate in their recruitment induction and training.

Main duties of the job

Following the assessment of a clients needs you will be responsible for providing individualised information and support verbally, written by phone or in a format that is suitable to them.

You will coordinate and delivery support sessions provided by Macmillan.

You will be responsible for the supervision of of volunteers within the service and will participate in their development and training.

You will ensure that information materials are correctly catalogued and displayed and that the centre is kept well stocked.

You will work across site delivering an equal service to all clients.

You will work with members of the wider MDT including cancer care coordinators, clinical nurse specialists and social prescribers.

You will ensure that the Holistic Needs Assessment folder is up to date.

You will be able to manage your own workload without supervision.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person who enjoys a challenge and is committed to providing excellent care to our patients.

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Experience of working with patients and carers

Desirable

  • understanding of national cancer information and agenda
  • Ability to plan and manage own workload
