Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) is an Independent Electoral Management Body established in terms of Section 238 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe. One of its functions is to manage and conduct elections to the offices of President, Parliament and Local Authorities, and Referendums, and all related electoral processes in accordance with the laws of Zimbabwe and international best practice.

The Commission wishes to recruit professionals of high integrity with good communication and decision-making skills, and sound knowledge of electoral democracy to fill vacancies that have arisen in the institution.

JOB TITLE : Research Officer x 1
REPORTS TO : Director-Research & Development
STATION : Head Office
GRADE : 8

Summary of Responsibilities

Provide proactive and reactive research and analysis services to the Commission;
Conduct research on electoral processes and political issues as they impact on the electorate and stakeholders;
Prepare well-researched background papers for Director Research and Development , Senior Members of Staff and the Commission;
Assist Divisions/Departments with information pertaining to their areas of functionality;
Create and update information databases including the informatics database;
Liaise with relevant government agencies, institutions of higher learning, research institutes and other stakeholders; and
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from to time by the Director of Research;

Minimum Qualifications/ Job Specifications

An Honors Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Administration, Gender Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation, or equivalent and relevant.
A Master’s Degree in the afore-mentioned professional fields is an added advantage;
Demonstrable research or policy formulation or implementation experience at university, government department or institution of similar standing;
Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision;
Innovative, highly motivated and able to work in a team;
Advanced computer literacy skills;
At least 2 years relevant working experience;
Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) ISO 9001:2015 will be an added advantage.
Possession of a clean Class 4 driver’s licence.
