Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 3, Health Care Support worker to work within mental health rehabilitation services in Bridgend.

Main duties of the job

Cefn Yr Afon is an open rehabilitation unit. We are seeking interest from dynamic, highly motivated individuals who are interested in working with patients within the rehabilitation and recovery services. The health care support worker will be involved in the delivery of nursing care to patients experiencing a range of mental health problems under the supervision of the qualified nurse.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude to working with people with mental health needs and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to work positively with patients and the ability to develop therapeutic relationships. Candidates must be able to demonstrate commitment to developing their skills.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Education/qualifications

Essential

  • Must possess NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of competency

Desirable

  • Candidate must be willing to work towards equivalent level of competency on commencement of post

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of working in mental health setting

Desirable

  • Experience of working with adults with serious mental illness
