Duties and Responsibilities
- Setting up the laboratory layout
- Preparing laboratory operational and capex budgets
- Developing, modifying and validating PGMs analytical methods using both classical and instrumental techniques
- Formulating and reviewing the Laboratory Quality Assurance system.
- Co-ordinating, managing and implementing key QMS clauses to maximize the technical competence of the laboratory
- Ensuring maintenance of laboratory instrumentation according to established guidelines
- Planning and directing internal audit functions of the Laboratory
- Ensuring adherence to laboratory safety standards and procedures
- Training and development of laboratory personnel
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry
- 10 years of laboratory experience
- Sound knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, 9001 and 140001 standards
- Working knowledge of ICP, XRF and AA
- Working knowledge of PGM and Base metals analyses is required
- Labware and LIMS experience will be an added advantage
